This canister vacuum is top class. Of course in this price range don't expect it to perform like a Rainbow but I don't think you will be disappointed. The Electrolux EL6984A UltraSilencer Canister won't leave you wanting. Electrolux tends to be one of those somewhat forgotten vacuum brands that clings to quality. Unlike Hoover that sold out to China Electrolux is still going strong and producing some of the greatest vacuum cleaners around. Don't expect a lot of the gimmicks and complexities with some of the other vacuums in its class, but all those complexities do is take away from where quality matters like in motor choice. I would take one of these Electrolux Canister vacuum cleaners over a Dyson any day, and it's cheaper! The only canister I see as a competition is the Miele Olympus which runs anywhere from $100-$150 more. Even then the only advantages the Miele has over this Electrolux is 0 emissions (really only important for severe allergy sufferers), easier rolling on hard surfaces though the Electrolux could arguably be better on more plush carpet (the Electrolux has two large wheels at the back that don't swivel), and a better hose. The Electrolux would fit the bill for most users at a decent chunk of change less.

The EL6984A is a Residential vacuum designed for use in the Residential environment. I have reviewed it accordingly, the price point of the EL6984A is set for the Residential industry which should be taken into consideration when purchasing or thinking about purchasing this vacuum. Commercial vacuum cleaners may be built to last longer and endure more abuse, but are more expensive and may be lacking some of the luxuries (such as light weight, or low noise) that you are accustomed to. On the contrary Residential vacuums are made at lower price points, lower quality, but are often lighter and quieter to use.
