My review and perspective on model: SC888K vacuum cleaner

There's not much to say about the Sanitaire here. The plastic base is thicker, stronger, and just more durable than your average vacuum to help protect from abusive employees ramming it against the wall. I have repaired or replaced a few of these cases but compared to the large number of these commercial vacuums that have made their way through my shop it is minuscule. What causes case failure most of the time is the fact that these vacs have the suction to suck up just about anything you put in front of it. While many low end commercial vacuums and residential vacuums will leave a screw, nail, or other large metal object where it lies on the floor this Sanitaire won't hesitate to suck it up and shoot it clean through the the inside of its case. Most of these fixes are easy for me and don't require buying a new case. I've riveted metal plates in place restoring the vacuum to be as good as new. This is why I also suggest getting a magnet for the front of your vacuum that will grab loose screws, nails, and other metal objects before it gets sucked up. You know your employees aren't looking at what they are doing, so it's better to protect your investment before they ruin it.

The chrome plated steel case cover allows for heat to dissipate from the motor increasing its lifespan. Comes equipped with a long cord for those trips down long corridors. Metal brush roll ensures a long reliable life. Exchangeable brushes means that if they wear out it's cheaper to replace them, or if you need a different type of brush for different surfaces any qualified professional can get that for you and install it. The only down side is that it's not a wide path so it can take longer to vacuum an area. If your employees don't pay much attention places can be missed with the vacuum not being as wide as many other commercial wide path vacuums. But as I stated this is the only real down side I have for these. They can take quite a bit of abuse, rarely clog (unless the bag is not emptied when full it can build up at the neck of where the bag attaches to the base), and it's cheaper than many residential vacuums of lesser quality.

The SC888K is a Commercial vacuum designed for use in the Commercial environment. I have reviewed it accordingly, the price point of the SC888K is set for the Commercial industry which should be taken into consideration when purchasing or thinking about purchasing this vacuum. Commercial vacuum cleaners may be built to last longer and endure more abuse, but are more expensive and may be lacking some of the luxuries (such as light weight, or low noise) that you are accustomed to. On the contrary Residential vacuums are made at lower price points, lower quality, but are often lighter and quieter to use.
